The 277-mile canyon varies in width between 600 feet and 18 miles, and is one-mile-deep. The Colorado River has carved four plateaus into the canyon and all of them can be explored. Also, there are over 40 different rock layers that make up the walls. Shockingly, the top layer of limestone was carried 9,000 ft into the area during the slow creation of the Grand Canyon. |
